Graphisoft would like to congratulate Kit Johnson on his new role of City Architect – for the city of Austin. Kit has been a long-time user of ArchiCAD and brings a wealth of experience to this new position. He’ll be responsible for providing oversight to architecture, sustainability and design issues faced by the City’s Capital Improvement Program as well as providing direct input and guidance on projects that fall under that program.

Kit has designed and managed multiple projects in and around the Austin area including ones that have served to revitalize the City’s east side with Transit Oriented Developments. He has been recognized for his ability to beautify a stalled project, dubbed the “Eyesore of Enfield Road”, which is approaching  completion as Pease Place.

Johnson’s firm, architecture365, inherited the job when it was half built. The firm had to deal with functional problems such as vertical shafts that collected water providing a mosquito breeding ground. Aesthetic problems also needed to be addressed, because walkways were compromising both views and privacy from the condos. The success of architecture365′s handling of the project can be attributed both to the use of ArchiCAD and Johnson’s expertise in addressing the challenges the renovation presented.

We are sincerely excited for him as he moves forward to assist the city of Austin in its growth and development.
