Special breakout sessions at next week’s EcoBuild from December 3 – 7 at the Washington DC Convention Center in Washington, DC will focus on Green Technology and Open BIM. Four technology user sessions, taught by architectural experts in ArchiCAD, incorporate case studies, best practices for Open BIM, practical workflows, and new ideas into a highly collaborative learning experience.
EcoBuild attendees can see demonstrations of the workflows that have been successful in using BIM to design from day one with streamlined project management. They will get the chance to hear from top architectural design and technical experts as they present strategies to help firms adapt to the evolving world of Building Information Modeling.
A special user group session on Wednesday the 5th from 5:30 – 7:30 PM will be led by GRAPHISOFT North America Business Process Leader, Monte Chapin. He’ll lead a panel made up of some of the most successful ArchiCAD firms in the industry today, to discuss design and productivity efficiency in ArchiCAD.
Communications with BIM – On Tuesday morning from 8:00 AM – 10:00 AM (S108), our own BIM Engine Blog contributor Jared Banks (of Shoegnome, too!) will present a session on how information in a BIM can be easily understood by anyone.
How to Increase Efficiency Using Open BIM Technology – The Tuesday morning session slated for 10:15 AM – 11:45 AM and presented by GRAPHISOFT Business Process Leader, Monte Chapin will include a realistic examination on the use of Open BIM technology. Monte will present ways in which Open BIM provides access to key physical and functional characteristics of a project. The use of Open BIM can create a work environment that improves all aspects of collaboration on a project to achieve success.
South Cove Manor: The Reality of BIM Collaboration with IFC Data Exchange – Also on Tuesday from 1:15 PM – 2:45 PM hear from Thomas Levi, AIA, Principal, Levi + Wong Design Assoc. Thomas will use his firm’s experience with the design, constructability investigation, contract document and cost estimation phase of the $22-million, 86,700 sq-ft long-term care facility, South Cove Manor, for his presentation. He will go over just how a successful IFC-based collaborative workflow handled multiple CAD and BIM software applications.
How BIM has changed Managing a Project Team – On Tuesday from 3:00 PM – 4:30 PM - Richard Crowe AIA, Prinicpal, Gilchrist Ross Crowe, takes a look at how BIM will change your approach to managing a project. He’ll go over how BIM impacts project schedules, man-hours, deliverables, skill-sets and training – as well as experience the differences between traditional CAD and BIM workflows.
Integrating Green Building Analysis into BIM – This seminar will take place on Thursday from 8:30 AM – 10:00 AM in Room 209B. Led by Michael Hansen, Principal, AEC Infosystems, Inc. it showcases a panel of local users and how they adopted BIM technology in order to analyze their projects for the purpose of sustainable design.
Sustainable Solutions with BIM – Monte Chapin, Business Process Leader, GRAPHISOFT will head up this session as well – scheduled for Thursday from 3:15 PM – 4:45 PM. After attending, you’ll understand how to make sustainable design decisions early on in the early design phase by making use of GRAPHISOFT EcoDesigner. This quick and reliable energy performance evaluation tool provides feedback on the building’s energy performance right from the start, which leads to better decisions on how to conform to regulations and satisfy the interests of both the client and the building’s operator.
All courses are AIA CEU approved.
