It was a feast for the eyes as well as a wonderful opportunity to network and engage with some of the top professionals in New York City last month. That’s when GRAPHISOFT teamed up with T-PROJECT, the US division of Italy’s premier production and sourcing hub for fashion and interior design, to host an exciting networking event in New York City.

ArchiCAD NYCThe sold-out event was held at the T-Project showroom. A space like no other where on display are beautiful and luxurious items sourced directly from Italy.

In addition to taking in the splendor of the top leathers, shoes and accessories, the guests of the event got a chance to hear from noted New York City architect, Joe Vance as he gave a compelling presentation on ArchiCAD BIM software. As owner and founder of Joseph Vance Architects he has a long history of using ArchiCAD designing a large number of homes, townhouses and other properties in the New York Metropolitan area.

Attendees were also treated to see an in-depth presentation from GRAPHISOFT’s New York City sales team of Zoltan Toth and Charlie Cooper. Toth demonstrated the benefits of 3D modeling and BIM for interior design. Charlie Cooper showed guests of the event, with the help of some 3D glasses, the BIMx Docs application, which brings your BIM to full view in 3D – keeping access to all construction documents on an iPad or iPhone.

ArchiCAD NYCThe firm of Joseph Vance Architects has been using BIMx for a year and a half, since the app was first released. BIMx – GRAPHISOFT’s presentation tool and 3D model viewer that works on any tablet or desktop – has been established as an important feature of the company’s process in developing and communicating design intent with clients and developers. With the advent of BIMx Docs, Vance has already planned ways to further improve productivity and efficiency throughout the project’s timeline and workflow.

ArchiCAD Joseph Vance“I am already accustomed to handing off the BIMx file to wood workers, engineers, pool consultants. Using BIMx Docs – with the incorporated construction documents – will help us in that we won’t have to print some 85 to 90 sheets of construction documents. What will also be a benefit is the fact what when you are dealing with such a huge project – a design meeting can be overwhelming for the client. With BIMx or BIMx Docs, the client can take it home with them, look around and soak up the information at their leisure, under more casual conditions.”
